Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships give you the chance to earn while you learn as is designed to offer vocational skills-based learning opportunities for all.
Apprenticeships are tailored made work based learning programmes which are open to anyone from the ages of 16 - 24 living in England and are not in full time education. Whilst on the programme you will build the necessary knowledge, skills and experience while you work with an employer gaining nationally recognised qualifications and earning money at the same time.
Apprenticeships are made up from NVQ's at levels 2 and 3 ensure learners study at the right level. Apprenticeships entail an NVQ, Key Skills and in some cases a Technical Certificate.
Apprenticeships are available to individuals from the ages of 16-24 which enables you to work towards your chosen NVQ at level 2, alongside Key Skills and where applicable, a Technical Certificate. For 16-18 year old's, you may (depending on household income) receive EMA from £10 to £30 per week 18-24 will receive the minimum training allowance until you are placed with an employer where you will receive £80 per week, in some cases you may receive a wage. Although all programmes differ, completion of the apprenticeship ranges from 12-18 months at which time you may have the opportunity to progress to an advanced apprenticeship.
Advanced Apprenticeships are available to individual from the ages of 16-24. An Advanced Apprenticeship enables you to work towards your chosen NVQ at level 3 alongside Key Skills and in some cases a Technical Certificate. In full time employment, you will have the potential to become maybe a Supervisor or perhaps a Manager or you could use this as a entry route to University. Completions of the Advanced Apprenticeship ranges from 26 - 30 months.
Entry to Employment (E2E)
Entry to Employment (e2e) is a learning programme designed to help young people (16 - 18) prepare for the world of work. It's all about boosting their confidence and motivation, honing their basic and key skills, and providing them with a range of opportunities to gain vocational knowledge and skills including a range of indoor / outdoor activities, work tasters and employer based placements. The aim is that they will progress to an Apprenticeship, further learning or employment.
New Deal / Jobcentre Plus Programmes
Intensive Activity Period (IAP) is a job focussed adult programme with jobcentre plus. All referrals are mandatory with the ultimate aim being to progress participants into employment.
Gateway to Work (GTW) is a two week job focused programme with Jobcentre Plus. All referrals are mandatory with the ultimate aim being to progress participants into employment.
Full Time Education and Training (FTET) is a 13-26 week programme which candidates are require to work towards the completion of a qualification depending on entry levels and occupational area. This programme ranges from Administration to Basic Skills and all referrals are mandatory with the ultimate aim being to progress participants into employment.
Environmental Task Force (ETF) is a 13 week programme where candidates work towards a land-based qualification. All referrals are mandatory with the ultimate aim being to progress participants into employment.
Basic Employability Training (BET) is a 26 week adult programme where candidates work towards a Basic Skills qualification and a similar to IAP, the programme is predominantly job-focused. All referrals are mandatory with the ultimate aim being to progress participants into employment.
Durham Occupational Training (DOT) is a job-focused programme available to individuals who are deemed economically inactive and are therefore unable to access training through the New Deal Options currently available.
